FAQ

How do I sign up for the workshop?

Please go to the Apply section and fill in our information questionnaire. We will review this and notify you if you are a fit for the workshop.

Do I need a specific idea in order to participate in the program?

From our experience, it is best if you work on a specific idea during the program. Regardless of whether you provide an idea or not, you will be required to sign the confidentiality and consent form.

How much does the workshop cost?

To participate in our workshop, we ask you to apply first. Upon reviewing your submission and determining that you are a suitable candidate, you will get the directions for payment according to your status (ie student etc) and the group you are affiliated with.

Is there anything I have to fill out or sign during the program?

You will be required fill out or sign:

1. Pre- and post-workshop surveys.

2. A confidentiality and consent form.

The pre- and post-workshop survey is an “entrepreneurship barometer”, or snapshot. We would like to check where you are at in terms of entrepreneurship competencies, before and after the workshop. The confidentiality agreement focuses on protecting each of your unique ideas that you will work on in the workshop and includes a data use consent, media use consent, and an acknowledgment of our cancellation procedures.

How many seats are available per workshop?

The total capacity of each workshop is limited to 10 participants, but we prepare a waitlist in case someone drops out. If you are interested please apply so you can be added to our waitlist.

What is the time commitment for the program?

The program consists of group meetings (5 meetings of ~1.5 hours each and the sixth which is longer), online video materials (5 sessions of ~1 hour each), and coaching (2 sessions of 25 minutes for each participant). In addition to the time you spend attending the group meetings and watching the related online videos, you will need to spend about 1-2 hours on homework per session. The group sessions are usually anytime from 9:00 a.m. MST to 12:00 p.m. MST.

Is there an in-person component to this program?

The FL2F workshop is all online so there is no in-person component.

What if I do not have a STEM or health background?

The FL2F workshop is oriented toward women in STEM and health. Currently we do not specifically address social sciences. If you have an idea that you want to commercialize, we might be able to help with that. For example, we had participants from psychology, who were creating apps. If you have an idea that you would like to work on, then this workshop will definitely be beneficial to you. Nevertheless, we recommend you to the apply section.

What are the topics included in the program?

Topics covered in the FL2F program include intellectual property, market discovery, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the program will cover topics such as gender bias, resilience, how to build a start-up, how to receive funding support, and how to develop a strategic plan. You will also have the chance to develop an elevator pitch and even get to practice it! By the end of the program, you should have a working idea of how to bring your ideas to the market!

What is my role in the program?

We ask for you to finish viewing the online videoes within 24 hours, be prepared with your homework, and that you show up on time and actively participate during the group meetings. You have the chance to connect with like minded women - seize the opportunity!

What if I need to miss a meeting?

It happens that you might miss a meeting. However, the online material is available for 24 hours and you will be able to catch up later in the day. Please inform us ahead of time if you have to miss a meeting.

Is there anything I should know prior to starting the program?

We will be sending you a dictionary of the terms we will be using throughout the program. If you master it beforehand that would be awesome!

When do I need to complete the homework by?

You are requested to do the homework for each meeting before the next meeting.

When will I receive my certificate?

You will receive your certificate at the end of the program. We take a group photo at the end and share it on social media.

Is there anything else that I have to do after completing the program?

After the program you continue with your work on the project, this program gives you a head’s start! Six months after completion we ask for you to fill out a follow up questionnaire. We do sometimes ask alumni to participate in testimonial videos, where your participation is optional.
